Receiver freezes using PVR on SRT-8345CI

I have a new SRT8345CI and it works fine - except when I attach a USB disk and try to use the PVR facility. After about 10/30 minutes recording, the unit freezes and must be powered off to restart it.
The software is V 2.20 and dated Dec 18 2008. BUT the Strong website says the latest software is V 2.05 and is only dated November 2008.
Does anyone know why this might be and if there are later s/w updates?
BTW, the disk I am using is full 2.0 and works with other FTA units (e.g. Technomate).
Yes, I have made sure the disk is formatted FAT 32bit using (MENU/APPLICATION/USB).
Any other suggestions welcome please.

I contacted STRONG and they emailed me a later software version - V2.48. Unfortunately this did not resolve the problem and I have requested further help from them. I will keep this thread updated with any progress.

Problem resolved.
The Strong box works fine provided the HDD is a powered unit (i.e. does not rely on the USB port for power).
If the HDD takes its power from the USB then it is highly probable the HDD will be unstable as the Strong box cannot provide enough power from just one USB port.
Strong claims that some USB powered HDDs will work, but of the three units I tried, all failed. The manual is very unclear on the topic.
